I gasped. “I have no interest in Jake,” I said.

“Good, because you are all mine,” Damon said as he slid under the covers with me. I glanced under them and realized I was completely naked.

“I hope you undressed me after Jake had left.”

Damon grinned. “Of course I did...and I may have enjoyed it a little. I have to say, your breasts seem bigger today.”

I blushed, but didn’t say anything for a long time. “I’m sorry,” I finally said.

  “For what?”

“For everything. For falling asleep when we needed to plan. And for not protecting myself well enough. I feel like I’m to blame for Diego finding us.” I said, the soft smile I had had slipped from my lips.

“Hey,” he said as he pulled me against his naked body. “You have nothing to be sorry for. Jake and I have everything covered regarding the honeymoon. You focus on the wedding and don’t think about Diego. He was a murderer, and he didn’t follow any moral code. He enjoyed what he did too much.”

I snuggled against him and allowed his warmth to flow through me. We laid like that for a long time. Me breathing in Damon as his hand slid up and down my back. I felt safe in his arms, and I knew that he would never let anything bad happen to me again.

His hands slid up to my breasts, and I pressed against him as I tried to feel his warmth. His shaft slid between my legs and I sighed at the feel of his thickness. He moved his hips and his cock caressed my clit, sending arcs of pleasure through my body as his fingers pinched my nipples.

Damon’s kisses on the back of my neck sent fire through my blood, and I moaned when I felt his teeth graze the sensitive skin. Then his teeth plunged into my skin, biting me hard enough to make me gasp in ecstasy as his fingers bit deeply into my breasts. I squeezed my legs together around his cock and Damon groaned at the pressure around his shaft.

Turning me over, I found myself on my hands and knees. Glancing over my shoulder, I cried out at the need on Damon’s face as he thrusts deep inside of me. I screamed when I felt his thick shaft as it brushed against my cervix, a small stab of pain filling me as a sweet ache of need followed it.

Damon grunted and his hand slapped down on my ass, causing my pussy to clench around his cock. He groaned and slapped my ass again to feel my pussy as it milked him. I ground backwards in an effort to take more of him in. My core was tightening as my pussy dripped with desire. “Fuck me, Damon,” I screamed as he slapped my ass again.

He didn’t fuck me though, instead, he drew out of me until just the tip of his cock was inside of me and then he slapped my ass again. I shrieked as blind desire filled my head and I shook from the need to climax. But I couldn’t climax without him buried deep and I writhed against him in an effort to take him deeper.

“That’s it, Mia,” he said. “Beg for me to fill your sweet pussy.”

I shook my head and then I was screaming out as I begged him to fill me, “Please, Damon...Fuck me!” He gripped my hips, his fingers biting into my skin, as he pounded against me. His cock was sliding in further than I have ever felt him.

The speed that he thrusted left me breathless and I grabbed the covers in an effort to match him. Damon cried out in ecstasy as he shuddered, and I felt his cum filling me, which sent me over the edge of my own orgasm. I screamed as flashes of color sparkled in my vision and then we collapsed to the bed.

Damon pulled me against his body and kissed the top of my head. “I love you so much,” he murmured, “and I am so glad that you are going to come with me.”

  Chapter Eleven

“Mackenzie,” I called out as a pretty little blonde walked out of the airport as she dragged a black suitcase behind her.

She turned towards me and I smiled as she lifted her hand and waved. I felt, rather than saw, Jake stand up straighter from where he was standing beside me. When she reached me, Mackenzie’s eyes narrowed as she took in Jake, “Hey, Mia. Where’s Damon?”

I winced internally. Damon was busy securing all of the paperwork we would need to disappear and he couldn’t come with me to pick up my closest friend. He had known her as long as he had known me. Of course, the whole plan was for me to stay quiet and cheerful. I needed to act like nothing had happened since the attack at the bar. Diego was a memory that only we shared and what we were planning was only something that the three of us knew.

As much as it pained me, even my mom wasn’t going to be told. I was devastated about the hurt I would give her, but there was nothing I could do. “He had to work,” I said. “This is a close friend of ours. Jake, meet Mackenzie Wilder. Mackenzie, Jake Hunter.”

Jake held out his hand and Mackenzie looked at it like it was a snake before she slid her hand into his. Her eyes widened, and I wondered at her reaction to Jake. Although I had teased Jake over the last few weeks about not hitting on my friend, Jake really wasn’t Mackenzie’s type. She didn’t go for the Alpha male personality and preferred meeker dates...if truth be told, Mackenzie was always attracted to the studious types.

“It’s nice to meet you,” Jake said smoothly, and I knew he was flirting with her. I shot him a reproachful glance as Mackenzie actually blushed before her brown eyes flashed in anger.

“Likewise, I hope,” she said as she pulled her hand free. It was like Jake was hesitant to let her go.

Breaking into the strange tug of war that the two of them had, I asked, “How was the flight?”

Mackenzie turned away from Jake and said, “Long and cramped. I really need to make more money so I can fly first class.”

I shook my head as Jake picked up her suitcase and placed it in the trunk. “I told you I would pay for your ticket. You could have upgraded.”

She laughed. “I know, but I wanted to pay for it myself. There was no need for you to pay out more money, especially when you are getting married.” She climbed into the backseat and I slid in beside her. While I could have rode in the front, I really wanted to chat with my friend without having to turn around.

Jake groaned when he climbed into the car. “What I’m a chauffeur now?” he asked.

I laughed. “Yes, take us home driver.”

“Only if the pretty lady says please,” Jake teased as he started the car. I laughed harder, but noticed that Mackenzie didn’t look happy with it.

  “Please,” I said.

Jake’s eyes sparkled as he said, “No, Mia, I meant the other pretty lady. I have a feeling that she doesn’t beg very often.”

“I don’t beg at all,” Mack snapped and she turned back to me. “So is everything ready?”

My mouth dropped, and I watched Jake’s eyes narrow in the rearview mirror. He sat there, the car idling as he waited for Mack to ask him nicely. Glancing at Mack, I watched as her smile twisted into frustration and said, “I really appreciate you driving so Mia and I can talk.”

Jake nodded and the slid the car into drive before he navigated through the streets. Tension filled the car as Mack shot arrows through the back of Jake’s head and I wondered if I should have invited Jake along. Not that I had much choice. Damon wasn’t letting me out alone at any time and he made sure that someone was with me if he couldn’t be.

Thankfully, that somebody was always Jake and I enjoyed spending time with him. Unfortunately, that had meant that Jake had to go to the doctor’s appointment with me. It was pretty embarrassing and the doctor wasn’t sure why he was there when I said he wasn’t my fiancé. I could imagine what it looked like to the doctor.

But that had been a wonderful visit. The doctor confirmed the pregnancy and had even confirmed that the little peanut was doing well. The stresses and damage from Diego hadn’t been felt by the baby, but the doctor did give a concerned look when he spotted the yellow bruising on my back. I had lied and said that I’d fallen while horseback riding, which is why I was concerned as I found out I was pregnant shortly after the fall.

I don’t think he believed me and the protective posture of Jake hadn’t made it any easier. My brows furrowed as
I stared out the window and watched the Florida streets go by. I hadn’t told Damon about the baby yet, and Jake was pressuring me to do so. But I was worried about Damon deciding to risk our future for me and the baby so he could grow up with dotting grandparents.

Besides, I wanted to enjoy the time as a newlywed before I told him on our wedding night. It was exciting to have a secret that I could surprise Damon with. “So why are you so quiet?” Mack asked me.

I startled and realized that I had been lost in thought. “I was just checking off all the things I needed to do,” I said, but I didn’t finish the sentence.

“There must be a dozen things that you had to do for the wedding...and your maid of honor wasn’t here to help you. I am sorry that I couldn’t get more time off of work,” she said and she grabbed my hand to hold it.

I stared down at her long, perfectly manicured fingers and shrugged. “Yeah, it has been busy, but the wedding is small, so there really isn’t a lot that needed to be done. Besides, now that my maid of honor is here, I am going to put all the little details onto her.”

“Hey, that’s not fair.” She grinned at me and I found, now that she seemed to have forgotten Jake, that her cheerful personality was affecting me. “I figured my job as maid of honor was to lie on the beach and drink mimosas.”

I laughed. “You can do that, too. Really, there isn’t much left to do. All the last minute arrangements have been taken care of and the wedding is only a few days away. You get to come for the final fitting, but that is it.”

“Whew, thank goodness! I thought I was going to be working like Cinderella all week.” She stuck her tongue out at me and said, “But I get to enjoy the bachelorette!”

I noticed Jake’s shoulder stiffen and I knew that he was going to argue with her. Damon and I had already decided it wasn’t safe for me to have a bachelorette and, besides, I didn’t have any friends in Florida to go out with. I shook my head and said quickly, before Jake could start an argument, “I’m not have a bachelorette.”

  “What? Why not?” she asked.

“Because I don’t know many people around here. It would end up just being me and you and while that would be fun, one of us would have to stay sober to get home. I figured we would all go to dinner together instead of doing the whole stripper and getting blind drunk thing.” And I don’t want someone from Damon’s past coming and killing us both, I said silently. I hated having to keep things from Mack.

“Okay,” she said hesitantly with a huge frown on her face. She looked towards the back of Jake’s head and scowled. “Will it just be us and Damon or will other people be coming?” she asked.

I saw Jake’s slow smile in the rearview mirror, but his eyes were filled with anger. “Yeah, it will be just us, right Mia? You, me...your annoying maid of honor. A real small affair.”

Mack’s mouth dropped and a small sound of protest came out, but she didn’t say anything. I rolled my eyes. Mack must be tired because she never hates anyone. For her to have such an instant dislike for Jake was strange and I couldn’t figure out why. For that matter, I couldn’t figure out why Jake was suddenly so angry. He usually knocked the panties off of every girl that he met. Why wasn’t he his usual charming self?

As the car navigated towards our home, I launched into going over all the details with Mack and while she did seem interested, I couldn’t help but notice the glances she cast towards Jake or the way she seemed distracted. Before we even reached the house, we had all fallen into a tense silence that matched our moods perfectly.

  Chapter Twelve

I rolled over in bed and stared out at the sunrise just cresting the water. I felt Damon’s sleeping form against my back, and I couldn’t stop the smile from happening. One more day! One more day and I would be Damon’s wife. One more day and I would no longer be me.

I sighed and closed my eyes as I listened to the sound of Damon’s steady breathing. It had been a hard week with Mack at the house and me jumping at every shadow or noise. Damon had been home as much as possible, but he was also spending a lot of time setting things up for our escape.

Mack hadn’t said anything about him being constantly missing, but I had seen the occasional look she gave him before he left. She wasn’t happy with him always being gone, and I knew that she wondered what type of life I would have with him. I wanted to assure her that it would be perfect...that we would be happy for the rest of our lives, but I couldn’t. Every day I spent with her was a torture. I had so much guilt about what we were planning to do, but I couldn’t let her know any of our plans...or even give her an opportunity to suspect something.

I opened my eyes again and stared out at the water. I had come to love this house, and I knew that wherever we decided to go, I wanted to be near the ocean. The waves were peaceful and I felt safe in the room...despite everything that happened. I glanced towards the door where Diego had been shot, but there was no sign that anything had happened. Damon’s friend had erased everything except the memory away.

The week with Mack had been a lot of fun. We’d gone shopping, had our nails done, and just spent time together laughing and talking about old times. The only damper on the week had been how she’d reacted to Jake. It was like instant fire added to oil the moment Jake walked into the room and I couldn’t understand it. To say that they hated each other was an understatement.

Jake always seemed to try to get Mack’s attention every time he saw her. He would say something cutting or would point out one of her flaws. I didn’t understand it...Mack didn’t have flaws, as far as I knew. She was beautiful and intelligent. She cared about people and really went out of their way to help. But Jake still found some way to insult her, and I was thankful that I would be heading out on my honeymoon in less than forty-eight hours.

Just last night, at our dinner, the evening had been wonderful until Jake had made a cutting remark about the guys she was dancing with. Even now, I felt the remnants of the headache I’d had last night after they’d had a fight.

“To the happy couple,” Mack raised her glass and I smiled at her. She looked radiant in her yellow halter dress and her tanned skin. Her hair had lightened already in the Florida sun and she was a beautiful shade of bronze. “May you have a long and happy life together!”

Damon nodded and lifted up his glass as Jake and I did. We tapped them together and then took a long sip. The virgin mojito was amazing, and I savored the taste. Of course, no one knew that I’d ordered a virgin one. It went perfectly with the rich dinner and the atmosphere of the restaurant. The club-like setting with a full dance floor was just the right amount of fun for all of us to have.

As we settled into the evening, Mack kept glancing towards the dance floor and she finally headed towards it, clearly looking for someone to dance with. I was too wrapped up in Damon’s arms to really pay attention, but I did notice Jake’s hungry eyes following her. It was the first time that I wondered if Jake was interested in Mack.

Then his jaw had tightened as a large man pulled Mack onto the dance floor. She’d laughed and spent several songs with the guy before she’d come back to the table to talk and order more drinks. “So you just let anyone grab you,” Jake said, and I couldn’t tell if it was a question or a comment.

Mack ignored him and took a sip of her cocktail. “Why don’t you come and dance with me, Damon? I’m sure your goon could watch Mia while we danced.”

Damon shook his head and I grinned. I knew that Mack loved to tease Damon...probably because she’d had a crush on him when we were younger. Of course, now that he was mine, I knew that she would never try anything on Damon. “I’m comfortable here,” he said.

I laughed as Damon pulled me into his lap. I could feel his bulge and I wiggled my hips slightly as I grinned at Damon’s reaction. “Come on, Damon. Dance with her. It will be the last time you get to dance with anyone except me.”

He kissed my neck. “Why don’t you ask my goon?” He laughed at the storm brewing in Jake’s eyes
and I buried my face in his chest to avoid looking myself. “I have heard that he can dance really well.”

Looking back after a few seconds of silence, I saw Mack staring at Jake with an unmistakeable look of disdain on her face. She looked like she was ready attack him over the table...or maybe she was ready to completely ignore him. I wasn’t quite sure. “Yeah, I don’t think that Jake can dance,” she said dryly.

I shook my head and sighed. The week had been difficult with them constantly sniping at each other. I had no idea how they would be after we were gone. It just seemed to be too much anger between them. Jake tossed her a lazy smile and said, “I dance rather well...at least none of the ladies have ever complained.”

“Probably to be polite,” she said, and I laughed. It was clear they were both talking about something other than dancing. Damon captured my gaze and I could see the mirth in his eyes, and I sighed. This was how we should be. In love and not worrying about anything as we enjoyed our life together.

“Okay, that’s it,” Jake snapped as he stood up. “I obviously have to defend my honor so you are going to be dancing with me.” I looked over at him as he pulled a shocked Mack from her seat and whisked her away towards the dance floor.

I could see her arguing with him as a slow song started and he pulled her against him. And then they were lost in the crowd and I was caught up in Damon. “So only a few more days,” he whispered.

I nodded and felt the tears prick my eyes. It should be the happiest day of my life, but it was turning into a bittersweet moment for me. It was start of my new life with Damon, but it was the end of being me. “I know, but a part of me is scared,” I said.

He kissed my lips and I felt his love sear me before he pulled away. Just then, I heard a commotion on the dance floor. Looking up, I watched as Mack came storming out of the crowd and headed towards us. Jake followed behind, an angry mark rising on the side of his cheek in the shape of a hand.
