Crying out in pleasure, Mia stills as she feels Damon’s shaft buried to the hilt. He holds her still, his head resting between her breasts as his breath hisses between his teeth.”Don’t move or I will fucking come,” he groans.

Reaching around her, Damon starts the engine of the bike. The motor vibrates through her, and she can’t stop her pussy from fluttering along Damon’s cock. He feels so amazing as he cups her ass, and then he is guiding her up and down as she rides his cock.

She feels her climax building in her stomach, a coil that is twisting tighter and tighter as she wraps her arms and legs around him. Her core is hot, and she can feel her body clenching around his hard shaft. Damon buries his head in her breasts and groans as he slides her up and down his shaft.

Opening her eyes, Mia looks up at the stars just starting to appear in the evening sky and she screams her orgasm up to the heavens as it gushes through her. Her body feels like it is on fire, and lights flash in her vision as her pussy clamps around Damon’s cock.

Feeling her orgasm, Damon lets go, and she feels his cum splashing against the walls of her vagina as his muffled yells are against her breasts.

“God, that was amazing,” he says.

“The best,” she groans as he turns off the engine. “We should do that more often.”

“Definitely,” he says and places a kiss to her lips. “But not right now, I really have to recover after all that.”

Laughing, he helps her down from her perch on top of him and he reaches into the saddlebags on the bike. Pulling out an old t-shirt, he wipes along her legs and against her pussy. Flutters start in her stomach again as her body reacts to his touch. Even this ignites the fire in her body.

“We should get going,” he says as though he senses her need. “Before you tempt me into having an encore. I want to have a few drinks with my girl and dance with her.”

Grinning, Mia slips on her panties and climbs onto the bike behind him. Starting it again, Damon navigates the bike out of the parking lot before she can admit to how the thrum of the bike had taken on a whole new excitement for her. If she was honest, this was probably the best sex she’d had yet.

  Chapter Seven

The club is in full swing when they pull up to the curb, and Mia smiles as the music takes a hold of her. She has never really loved going to clubs, but with Damon, it was a new experience. She wanted to get inside so they could get dancing and really enjoy the night. It would be the perfect finish to a perfect day.

Climbing off the bike, they are heading towards the entrance when Damon stiffens. His eyes turn steely as a man in his early 20s called out to him. “Damon, I thought you were dead.”

Looking him over, Mia notices the leather jacket bearing the insignia of some biker gang. His thick beard and shaggy hair complete the look that goes with the biker boots and the jeans. The guys eyes were hard...the eyes of a killer.

“I am,” Damon says. “What you’re seeing is a ghost. I don’t live in that world anymore.”

The words are haunting, and Mia wonders if it is something they normally say when they leave the gang. The man eyes him before his eyes sweep over her. “You leave us for that sweet piece of ass,” he rubs the front of his jeans as he talks, “I can understand wanting to leave for that.”

Damon’s eyes turn hard and his lip curls in anger, “Get your fucking eyes off of her, Seth,” he growls. “She is mine and no one else’s.”

“What, you won’t share with an old friend,” the man, Seth, says as a few of his friends, all of them wearing the same leather jackets laugh.

“We were never friends, and I never share. You should know that by now,” Damon says, and he takes a menacing step forward.

Fear pricks at the back of Mia’s neck, and she places her hand on Damon’s arm, “Damon, don’t. This isn’t worth it.”

Her eyes plead with his when he turns to stare at them, and after a few moments, the anger softens. She sighs in relief as he nods and says, “Look, Seth, my girl doesn’t want me to get blood on my shirt, so I’m going to ignore your comments. I have better things to do than beat the fuck out of you.”

And he means every word; Mia knows just how deadly Damon can be. Seth sneers, “What makes you think you can take me, asshole?”

Another man grabs Seth’s arm and says, “Hey, remember what he used to do for us, man. Don’t fuck with Damon.”

A hint of fear shows in Seth’s eyes for a moment before he takes a step back, “Sorry about that, Damon. Didn’t mean to ruin your night.”

Taking another step back, Seth clears the path to the door of the club. Damon nods and grasps Mia’s hand as he guides her towards the door. At the last second, Seth’s hand reaches out and he pinches Mia’s ass, causing a gasp to come from her lips.

“Remember, baby, if you get tired of him, you can come and fuck a real man like me any time.”

Mia’s worried gaze flicks from Seth’s leering one to Damon’s furious one. Ice fills her blood and she screams, “Damon, don’t,” a second before Damon’s closed fist shoots across the space and smashes into Seth’s nose.

The sound of bone breaking echoes in the silence that follows as Damon drops Mia’s hand and pushes her back towards the bike. She barely gets clear of the two men when Seth’s curse is followed by his fist. She sees him connect with Damon’s stomach, who curls over as the wind is knocked out of him.

Screaming in horror, she glances at the other men standing around. The one man who had tried to stop it gives her an apologetic glance before stepping back away from the two men grappling between them. The rest of the bikers follow suit and then it is just Damon and Seth left.

For a second, Mia isn’t sure if Damon will win the fight, and then his fists become a flurry of activity. It’s like they are everywhere, connecting with Seth’s body in his stomach, chest, side, back, and head as Damon reigns blow after blow against him.

The sound is like a fist hitting a meat bag, and it becomes clear, very quickly that that is what Seth is. A meat bag that Damon is working all his anger out on. What started as two men punching each other has quickly turned to Damon hitting a man that is barely conscious. Mia screams as blood and teeth splatter across the pavement and still, Damon continues to hit Seth.

The bikers watch, their eyes emotionless, dead, as Damon continues his onslaught. Finally, the only man to say anything grabs Damon’s hand. He swings around, ready to take on the new attacker when the guy catches his fist, “That’s enough, Damon, he learnt his lesson. You don’t have to kill him.”

As though his mind is cleared, Damon stops swinging and the rage that had filled his face as he beat Seth to a pulp is gone. Seth hovers in the air for a moment before he crashes to the ground, his face a smashed ruin and Mia is positive that he has internal injuries.

“Tell him when he wakes up that I am done with this shit. Tell him that Mia is mine, and if anyone wants to fuck with me, I will bury him. I may be retired, but I will make a special exception and come out of retirement if I have to.”

He turns on his feet and takes the few steps to Mia. She cries out in horror as she sees the black eye forming and the gash on his cheek. Anger flares in his eyes for a second, and she shakes her head as tears spring to her eyes.

Grabbing her, he pulls Mia into his embrace and kisses her deeply before he lets her go. He places his forehead against hers and says, “No one is allowed to touch you or talk to you like that. You belong to me and no one else.”

She nods as he continues, “I will always protect you, no matter what and regardless of whom.”

Pulling her after him, he climbs up on the bike and starts it. “Let’s go home, Mia, I don’t feel like being at the club anymore.”

  Chapter Eight

It was meant to be. All of it. The club, the ride home, the way he made passionate love to her after she had washed his wounds, and then getting the text from her mom. She was willing to accept their relationship, but needed Mia to be patient.

  It was
wonderful, and her life was coming together. Damon wanted her...she was his completely, and she felt so cherished and protected. Nothing could bring her down from this high.

They had spent the night making love and celebrating their life together. Then they had slept through most of the day, only waking up long enough to make love again and eat.

Stretching in bed, she smiles up at the ceiling as she listens to Damon singing in the shower. She never realized it, but he can be such a goofball. The tune he’s singing is “Let’s Get it On,” by Marvin Gaye, and it was definitely tempting her to join him in the shower.

He was planning on taking her out for dinner, which was why they were showering alone. They never got any washing done when they showered together. Sighing in happiness, Mia snuggles into his pillow and breathes in his musky scent. God, just the smell of him ignited passion in her.

She had never been a wanton, hell, she had been a virgin before he took it, but she knew what passion was...at least a little. Or, at least, she thought she had. Being with Damon has shown her that passion is so much more.

Beep-beep-beep. The sound of a phone going off has her reaching for her phone when she realizes that it is actually Damon’s phone going off. Hesitating, Mia glances towards the bathroom and then towards his phone. I shouldn’t check it, she tells herself, but her hand moves on its own, and she picks up the phone.

Flicking it on, she sees a text message from a Jessica. I need to see you tonight...asap!

Her stomach plummets to her toes, and she feels vomit rising in her throat. Jessica, who the hell is Jessica?

Tears sting her eyes, and she gasps at the feeling in her heart—it feels like it is being shattered into a million pieces. A sob wrenches from her throat at the exact same moment that Damon walks out of the bathroom. “Mia?” he asks, his eyes full of concern. “What’s wrong?”

Turning towards him, she throws his phone at him. He catches it, his eyes going cold with anger and confusion. “Who the hell is Jessica?” she snarls as she jumps from the bed.

“Jessica?” His voice is full of confusion as he looks down at the phone.

“Yes, Jessica. The girl who has to see you tonight...asap.” Mia steps closer to him and thumps him in the chest, her heartbreak turning to anger at the sight of him.

“Just a friend,” he says. “From my old life.”

“You mean from the gang. God damn it, Damon, you promised to leave that life behind. Did you think I wouldn’t find out that you are still in that life?”

“I’m not anymore. Jessica left the gang long before I did,” he says defensively, and then his teeth snap together as though he said something he shouldn’t.

Angry tears slide down her cheeks and Mia swipes them away. “She isn’t part of the gang, and you are still seeing her. Is she your lover? Am I not a good enough fuck for you?”

His eyes turn cold and he grabs her arms and shakes her. Mia’s teeth snap shut, and she slaps him. “Let go of me!” she cries.

“You are the only woman for me,” he growls. “You get that through your thick head. You will not be leaving me over this shit. Jessica is just a friend that I saved from the gang. She wanted out, I helped her get out. End of story.”

“Then who is she? Why did you care if she got out?”

“Because I did. I can’t tell you about her because it’s not my story to tell,” he answers, his eyes blazing with anger.

Damon drops her arm and heads over to the closet. He starts throwing on some clothes, and Mia watches in disbelief. “You are going to her. She beckons, and you drop everything to go to her!”

“Mia, it’s not like that,” he says as he ties up his boots. “She did a lot for us, and if she needs my help, then I have to help her. She deserves that, and if you knew what she did, we wouldn’t be having this argument.”

“Then tell me what she did because all I can think is that you are fucking her. That you are choosing her over me,” Mia says, begging for him to listen, to share with her.

Damon pauses at the door and turns back to her. His eyes look haunted and he shakes his head, “I can’t. There are things I can’t tell you about that life.”

“More secrets,” Mia screams. “If you expect us to have a life together, we can’t have all these secrets between us.”

His eyes harden again, and he says, “If there are no secrets about my old life, we won’t have a new life together.”

And then he turns away, and Mia is left speechless as she stares after him. She can hear him walking through the apartment and then she hears the door open and slam shut before the lock slides into place.

She stands there, his words echoing in her brain over and over again. There are things that he has never told her and things she isn’t sure he will ever tell her.

Collapsing on the bed, Mia gives in to all the heartbreak that is filling her. She can’t imagine life without Damon, but maybe his old life will really be the breaking point, maybe they truly were a lost cause.

  ****

The night drags on, and Mia is barely able to focus on the schoolwork that she is forcing herself to do. Damon has been gone all night and even now, with the sun just rising above the horizon, he hasn’t so much as called.

She had called him and had been sent straight to voicemail. Her texts went undelivered as well. It was a nightmare. The worst thing she feared when she had first came with him to Chicago. Was he gone forever or was he just blowing off steam?

She had stayed up all night waiting for him. She ate a bit of food, but none of it stayed well in her stomach and she had ended up throwing it up. It wasn’t the first time she had thrown up in the last week, and she wondered if she was pregnant. It’s just nerves, she assured herself.

But wouldn’t that just be her luck? Damon will leave her for Jessica, and she will wind up pregnant and alone. A fresh set of tears blur the screen in front of her, and she swipes them away. She is done with crying. She is done with Damon if he wants to spend his life with Jessica. Hell, if he wanted to continue having secrets between them, then she was done.

If she was pregnant, she would take it as it came and survive without him.

Would you though? that little voice inside her taunts. You need him as much as you need air to live.

“Shut up,” she growls and heads towards the kitchen to grab a fresh glass of water.

She was exhausted, but she didn’t want to sleep, not until she at least heard from him. Looking in the mirror in the hallway, she couldn’t help but admit that she looked like shit. Her eyes were red rimmed and there were large bags under them. Her skin was extremely pale and stress made her mouth a hard gash.

Mia couldn’t help but wonder about how beautiful Jessica was. Was she edgier? Definitely. Sexier? Probably. More exciting? Mia didn’t know. Maybe she was a homebody like Mia. Someone who loved spending the day curled up on the sofa and reading...but probably not.

In her mind, she could picture them making love. Damon’s hands on another woman’s breasts, his mouth on another woman’s skin, his cock buried deeply into another woman’s...

“Stop it Mia,” she says to the empty room. “Damon isn’t cheating on you...he is just helping a friend.”

Whirling around at the sound of the phone, Mia races to it and answers, “Damon?”

The voice on the other end is cool and very feminine, “No, this is Jessica. Is this Mia?”

Her heart catches in her throat, and Mia nods before realizing that Jessica can’t see her. “Yes.” Why would she be calling her?

“I need you to meet me at the hospital,” Jessica says, her voice still cold and emotionless.

“What? What happened? Is Damon okay?” Mia screams the questions.

Jessica takes a deep breath and exhales it into the phone before saying, “I think so. He was stabbed after he left the bar we were meeting at. I came out a half hour later and found him. He has been in and out of consciousness and has been asking for you.”

  Tears sting her eyes
and she sobs into the phone, “What...What hospital?”

  “Mercy.”

“I will be there in less than a half hour,” Mia says as she jots down Jessica’s cell number and the room number where Damon is.

Hanging up, she runs to the bedroom to change into some jeans and a sweater and then calls for a taxi.

  Chapter Nine

The hospital has a quiet business to it as Mia heads to the nurses’ station on Damon’s floor. Visiting hours hasn’t started yet and many of the occupants of the floor are still sleeping, so most of the hallways are dimly lit.

Turning the corner, Mia stops in her tracks as she sees a beautiful woman leaning against the wall. Her hair is long and falls in ebony black waves down her lithe body. She looks like a dancer.

The woman’s heart-shaped face turns toward Mia and her plump lips curve in a hesitant smile. She is absolutely breathtaking, and Mia finds herself faltering. There is no doubt in her mind that this is Jessica.

How could he fall in love with me when he had her?

“Mia?” the woman asks hesitantly before casting a nervous glance around her.

“Yes...um,” Mia clears her throat and tries to force moisture into her mouth, “Jessica?”

The woman nods and walks towards her. She motions towards a waiting room and heads in that direction. Mia casts a longing glance towards the nursing station before following Jessica into the room.

“What happened?” she asks as she enters the room behind her.

Jessica motions to the seat next to her, and Mia takes it, although she wants to be away from this woman as quickly as possible. Up close, Mia can’t help but be drawn into the lavender eyes of Jessica. She was exotic with her Mediterranean skin and light eyes, and Mia was the complete opposite of her with her blonde hair and light complexion.

“I asked him to meet me at the bar. I was worried about him. I had heard that a few of the gang members didn’t think he should be let free like that. They wanted him dead. I was stupid to come back and to call him.”
